That would be full load 100% of the time. No operator is that efficient, not to mention you're only loaded hard when breaking out or traveling. Keep in mind, the cummins powered volvo excavator has almost no support for electrical components. No harness or ECUs . It was the last breath of Samsung before Volvo introduced the B series. Keep that .
Yesterday I was running my friends 04 EC460BLC for about an hour or so. Everything was working great until it suddenly just lost all hydraulic power. It seems to have affected all functions including the travel motors. I can tell that its trying to do something, but its not enough to even lift. The 180 Volvo actually took the place of one of the cats in the quarry. They bought a poor mans cat, a 950GB I think. It had a lot of issues the first summer, but the bugs seem to be gone. Both Cat and Volvo give great service. At one time Volvo used to offer 15% better fuel consumption over Cat in writing. Not sure if they still do or not. Any tips on flushing the system ? volvo is a joint venture of samsung and akerman (volvo bought them in the mid 90s) not a bad machine but i dont and wont have one i just dont like them , they are not as good as a hitachi kobelco or daewoo , the boom has a tendancy to crack from side to side just over the main pin, volvo sometimes "forget" to put oil in the swing box on brand new machines, and .
We have a Volvo EC460 excavator that we are trying to change over to Deere controls. It does not have a pattern change valve or lever installed, so we will have to swap hoses. Can anyone give me instructions on how to do that/which hoses to swap? Volvo is an awesome excavator, but they don't last as long. In my opinion Link Belt is the best all around excavator. They do have somethings I like better in volvo, but Link Belts last a long time. They have great resale, great power, smooth, comfortable etc. The 300X3 is a great excavator as is the 300D, but If I were you I would get the Link .
In the U.K. the Better bit of Iron on Backup Support and Digging ability would be the Volvo, I have driven about every make of Excavator other than John Deere as this brand is not sold within the U.K. Volvo dig Muck and control the best of anything on the market, between the Volvo and the CAT the Volvo is smoother,digs better, loads better, we have nothing bad to say . The scary thing is, your dealer tech should know these things, unless he's an apprentice. Ask the service manager to provide a person who is proficient in excavator, Volvo excavators would be best. I would also ask for consideration regarding your last service call which amounted to a ,"I don't really know. We have a Volvo 29 ton excavator with a D7 engine I believe Middle of shift it just lost power It starts and idles for a bit but when you go to rev it up it’s like it’s starved for diesel and cuts out The odd time it won’t even idle it just starts and cuts out But it starts everytime as normal Replaced the Low pressure pump driven by fan .
