You will high center LONG before you need front chains. Also, with chains on the back only, as you turn in driveways, and the front tires skid sideways, it doesn't tear things up. Don't do 180's with chains.
Also, with chains on the rear, I can lift the front end and push with the bucket to get out of a slick spot. Chains on all 4 would be better than just 2 but most of the time it is ice or frozen ground that require the chains.
