I have a few questions about a 940 E i've been working on. The previous owner . I have a early 90s 940. Rebuilt the chain cases at 2300 hours but never another problem. I have no experience with the newer machines but the old mechanical operated machines seem to be bulletproof. As with most internet searches for equipment reviews, you typically only find those folks with bad experiences and looking to vent. As someone looking to add a skid steer on a modest budget to the farm, I've found several Mustang's in my price range but I'm leary based on lack of positive reviews. I ran across a Mustang 940 skid steer with low hours. Just wondering if people have experience operating these skids? What controls are used on these machines? Are parts readily available? I have attached a picture of the one Im looking at. Thanks for your input.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the quality and longevity or mustang skid steers. The one i am looking at has an owner that doesn't know the model but it is a early eighties model and is yellow with a four cylinder gas engine. I am going to look at a used mid-1990's Mustang 940 for sale (asking 00). Are these overall good machines and relatively easy to work on? Are the parts still available? What should I look for specifically when checking out a used unit?
#1. My Mustang has 2400 hours on it. It runs and operates great. When we got it the air filter was filthy. We replaced it. I am now going to change both hydraulic, fuel, and change the oil and filter. I am planning on Rotella T for the oil change. I was thinking about changing the hydraulic fluid but can't find any information on how to do it. I have a few questions about a 940 E i've been working on. The previous owner seemed to have neglected some of the regular maintainence amazed it was running as good as it was, never saw an air or fuel filter gunked up so bad. i have a 2004 Mustang 2044, great little machine, simple to operate and repair. i would join heavyequipmentforums.com and do a search on the 2109. ive read quite a few horror stories about the 2109. do afew searches online first. I've been looking for a used skid steer to finish the grade on the house we just bought, clearing the driveway and for all the useful side benefits of having one I came across a good deal on a Case 1845C but it was sold when I got there.
I have a '90s Mustang 940 and a 68 or so Mustang 1700. the 940 has 2300 hours and the only thing replaced to my knowledge was the seat and shut off pull knob. It's a pretty smooth machine and is still very tight. I have a early 90s 940. Rebuilt the chain cases at 2300 hours but never another problem.
